Common questions

The things people ask first.

If your question isn't here, the free 15-minute consultation is a good place to ask it.

Do you take my insurance?

Not yet. Our practice is self-pay right now while insurance credentialing is underway. When a carrier goes live we'll add it to the pricing page. If you'd like us to email you when that happens, just say so when you book.

Do I have to live in Illinois?

You need to be physically located in Illinois at the time of your appointment. That's how state licensure works for telehealth. You don't have to live here permanently, but you do have to be here when we meet.

Do you treat ADHD?

Yes, and it's our main area of focus. That starts with a full evaluation. Treatment may include medication when it's clinically appropriate, and that decision comes after the evaluation, never before it.

Will I be prescribed medication?

Maybe. Medication is part of the practice, but it isn't automatic and no specific prescription is promised before an evaluation. We'll talk through what's appropriate for you and decide together.

What is integrative psychiatry?

Traditional psychiatric care plus attention to sleep, nutrition, movement, stress, and overall well-being. It doesn't replace medication or therapy. It means we're looking at more of what's affecting how you feel.

Can you help with drinking?

Yes. We evaluate and treat alcohol-use concerns, including medication when appropriate. If you need a higher level of care than outpatient can safely provide, we'll tell you honestly and help you get there.

What happens if I need to cancel?

Give us at least 24 hours' notice and there's no charge. Inside 24 hours, or a missed appointment, is charged $100. We know life happens, so tell us as early as you can and we'll work with you.

How long is a first appointment?

Sixty minutes. Follow-ups run 30 minutes, or 45 if we're including therapy time.

Do you see adolescents?

Yes. Our current focus is adolescents and adults.

Do you offer appointments in Polish?

Yes. Appointments are available in Polish and English, from the first consultation through every follow-up.

What is the free 15-minute consultation?

A brief conversation so you can decide whether this is a good fit before committing to an evaluation. It isn't a clinical evaluation, it doesn't start a provider-patient relationship, and it isn't for emergencies.

Do you offer therapy as well as medication?

Supportive psychotherapy can be part of a visit, and there's a 45-minute follow-up option that includes therapy time. If you need weekly, in-depth therapy, we'll help you find a therapist to work alongside us.

What if I've tried medication before and it didn't help?

That's a common reason people reach us, and it's useful information rather than a dead end. Knowing what you tried, at what dose, for how long and what happened tells us a great deal about where to go next.

How do I get my prescription refilled?

Refills are handled through the patient portal or your pharmacy between visits. Some medications require a visit before a refill, and we'll tell you which at your appointment.
